Miscellaneous animations I made for the Dr. Pepper Tuition Giveaway in 2020.
Although my submission did not place among the winners, I had so much fun going wild with colors and intentionally sloppy brush strokes. Plus, I had an opportunity to do my favorite thing ever -- namely, crafting a character and bringing her to life. All visuals are entirely 2D and digitally painted, with no 3D modeling or 3D rendering.
Made in a combination of OpenToonz (for mesh deformations), Krita and Photoshop Elements (for digital painting), and Shotcut (for video compositing).
In the end, these animations became less of a contest entry and more of a demonstration, to prove the power of 2D animation to be just as glossy and detailed and stunning as 3D animation. AND to prove the power of FOSS (Free Open Source Software) via OpenToonz, Krita, and Shotcut.
Animation with lip-sync'ing. The character was digitally painted in Krita and Photoshop Elements, then animated with mesh deformation in OpenToonz, with video compositing in Shotcut.

The teeth are a bit "uncanny valley", but this is another example of how glossy and stunning 2D animation can be -- and how powerful FOSS can be.
